REVERSE ENGINEERING OF STEAM TURBINES
In 2006 3D SPATIAL was contracted by turbine manufacturer Sulzer Hickham and Rotating equipment specialists ROTEQ Australia to capture the as-built geometry of a 90MW steam turbine that was nearing the end of its service life. During the couse of a week, the entire turbine including the Casing, Diaphragms, Blade Profiles and turbine sections were captured in the highest detail to provide CAD models for production of a replacement turbine by Sulzer Hickham in the United States.

LASER SCANNING FOR HERITAGE PRESERVATION
3D SPATIAL was approached by BMT Defence Services to conduct an as-built survey of one of Australia's most famous maritime relics, The Polly Woodside. Using our FARO LS880 Laser Scanner the entire interior and exterior of the vessel was able to be captured in full 3D in the space of one day

LASER SCANNING AND REVERSE ENGINEERING FOR RIGHT HAND DRIVE CONVERSIONS
Being a country who drive Right Hand Drive vehicles, Australia faces a unique challenge. For vehicle conversion specialist Vehicle Development Corporation who specialise in the conversions of FORDS range of F Series Trucks. Using 3D SPATIAL Laser Scanning and Reverse Engineering expertise, VDC was provided exactly what was required to accurately reproduce right hand drive models of their products to fast track their development for a new generation of F Series Trucks.

LASER SCANNING OF SCULPTURES FOR ENLARGEMENT
3D SPATIAL has successfully completed a number of unique art works for internationally renowned sculptor Michael Doolan. In collaboration with Pattern Maker Special Patterns Pty Ltd, Mr Doolan was able to realise his greatest ambitions of creating larger than life sculptures by utilising 3D SPATIALS laser scanning facilities.
